“A Parent’s Perspective” with Desi Rainbow Parents + Allies and Hidayah US

November 13 @ 11:00 am - 1:00 pm EST

Free
Join Hidayah US and Desi Rainbow Parents + Allies for an event on family-parental acceptance and dynamics as we go into the holiday season.

“A Parent’s Perspective” is a panel discussion with accepting parents of LGBTQ+ children to talk about family acceptance in Queer and religious communities, in collaboration with Desi Rainbow Parents + Allies.

As we approach the end of the year, the holiday season can be a stressful and triggering time for many members of the LGBTQ+ community. Dynamics with one’s family during this time can often be precarious, regardless if someone is “out” or not.

Join Hidayah US and Desi Rainbow Parents + Allies for an event on family-parental acceptance and dynamics as we go into the holiday season.

Listen to four parents share their stories on family acceptance and what their experience as Allies has been like, and then a moderated Q&A / breakout session after with event attendees.

Registration is required prior to the event. The Zoom link will become active 5 minutes before the start of the event and be emailed out to registrants two days prior.

All attendees must adhere to both organization’s safeguarding policies.

About Desi Rainbow:

Desi Rainbow Parents & Allies was conceived in 2017 for South Asian families and friends of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and questioning individuals to learn about LGBTQ+ issues, find community with one another and learn how to better support their loved ones. We serve Desi individuals and families who trace their origins to South Asia. We seek to build a community where diversity of sexual orientation and gender identity are valued, affirmed and celebrated by all.

About Hidayah:

Hidayah’s mission is to provide support and welfare for LGBTQIA+ Muslims, promote social justice and education about our community to counter discrimination, prejudice, and injustice, and create a safe and sustainable community with a long-lasting impact. Hidayah is a secular organization, but its projects and activities are developed specifically for the needs of LGBTQI+ Muslims. Our vision is to ensure our voices are heard and understood. We are a mix of practicing and non-practicing Muslims. However, we warmly welcome friends, families, and allies to our events.
