World AIDS Day – Let’s Talk About Sexual Health

December 1 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm GMT

Free
To mark World AIDS Day, Hidayah is hosting a sex ed event to remember why we mark this day, to raise awareness and break down stigma for all

From the 80s to present day, there has been a lot of progress in reducing/preventing new HIV transmissions around the world but there is still more to do, especially in combatting the negative stigma surrounding HIV and other STIs across all genders and sexual identities.

Hidayah has partnered with The Love Tank’s sex ed project, Prepster, the Queer Migrant Men’s network, to provide some key information on how to access free sexual healthcare in the UK. We will cover the following key areas:

  • History of World AIDS Day
  • What services are provided via Sexual Health Centres in the UK
  • How to register for your first sexual health screening and what to expect
  • STI prevention
  • STI screening and symptoms
  • STI treatments
  • Living with HIV
  • The importance of Consent

There is alot of shame and stigma attached to sexual health, which prevents some from accessing these essential resources. Hidayah and The Love Tank want to ensure that you have access to the information you need to make informed choices.

The event is hosted via Zoom and this is our first event where we will be trialling live language translation services. All materials and resources we discuss during the event will be available in English and any other languages requested during the event.

NOTE: Hidayah is a charity that exists to support LGBTQi+ Muslims, however, this event is for anyone and everyone who wishes to mark this day of remembrance and wants to know more about sexual health services in the UK. The topics we will be dicussing are not just for the LGBTQi+ community, but for everyone.

For the safety and security of all attendees, please be respectful on the event. The Zoom link will be sent 30 minutes before the event starts.

See you soon
